Microtek Gallery:
William Farrell

Our new Microtek Gallery contributor is William Farrell of New York City.

Mr. Farrell, an award-winning photographer and designer, is a graduate of Yale University, where he studied painting, graphic design, and photography.

After graduation, he worked as a designer with Lester Beall before joining the design staff at IBM with Paul Rand. There, he began to introduce his photography in his design projects, eventually changing the way IBM presented its growing product lines.

After leaving IBM, Mr. Farrell worked exclusively as a photographer, shooting large projects for many of the country's best design firms. Travelling globally for over 30 years, he has done work for more than 400 clients — from American Express to Xerox.

As a painter, Mr. Farrell's works are in over 200 private and institutional collections, including a major piece on permanent display at the Smithsonian Institute, National Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C.

For the images shown here, Mr. Farrell used the Microtek ArtixScan 120tf to scan his film. The black-and-white images were all taken in 1958, and the color images in the 1960s.

Mr. Farrell is the father of three, and he continues to live in New York City. For information on his prints, email info@hake.net.
