Ron's Tips:
Do the Twist

So the title may be a little dorky, but no matter -- the tip I'm giving you here is bang-on!

Did you know that colors will appear to change in your scanned image when it is scanned at different angles?

It's the phenomenon known as metamerism, a funny state of affairs in which colors change when they are viewed in different light sources.

How does this happen?

Look at it this way: The surface of every object has a texture. When you turn an object during your scan by 90 degrees, you will likely change the way the scanned light illuminates the surface of the object, rendering its color differently from scan to scan and as you keep turning the object or image.

Think suede: When viewed from one angle, it appears to be one color and when viewed from another angle, its tone or color appears darker or lighter / warmer or cooler.

Turning also works well with creased objects. For instance, if you see creases in your scan, turn it 90 degrees -- and you will mitigate the creases!

So turn your art... and see how you can literally change your scans to a different -- and perhaps better -- appearance!

Experiment and let me know what works so we can share.
