You want to be delighted with your scanner long after you've bought it?
Then get a Microtek ScanMaker 1000XL Pro. I'm not kidding. Keep reading and you'll learn why.
After demonstrating how well the 1000XL Pro works to countless numbers of people from all walks of life, I personally can tell you there isn't one person who bought the 1000XL who's ever been anything BUT thrilled.
First, it comes with the most awesome array of stuff that will support your every scanning whim, plus templates that will help you work with just about every film or image product format known.
Software? It's magical. Microtek was the first to introduce scanners to the consumer market, so their ScanWizard Pro software has been not only revolutionary but also evolutionary.
Now with ScanWizard Pro, you can whip out a scan in any format and with enough pre-scan edit power to please a client, boss, or a spouse (and the last can be tougher than the former two). If ScanWizard Pro isn't good enough for you, then the full version of SilverFast will make your day.
SilverFast is a robust and powerful addition to Adobe Photoshop or Photoshop Elements when it comes to pre-scan control of your image. What's more, SilverFast comes with built-in dust-and-scratch removal, NegaFix for superior negative film scans, as well as QuickTime movies.
And did I mention that Photoshop Elements comes in the box? Yes, it does. And what so many are surprised to find out is, if you are not publishing to print in CMYK, Photoshop Elements is all you need.
But there's more. Way more.
The ScanMaker 1000XL also has DIGITAL ICE to repair damaged photos and Microtek's ColoRescue to restore faded color in photos and film. Whether it's a torn print or pink-toned negative, chances are you'll lick it with the 1000XL.
And the scanner comes with the TMA -- the transparency media adapter that makes it possible to scan 35mm slides and filmstrips, as well as negatives as big as 12" x 16".
What I personally like is the fact that the TMA's cold cathode fluorescent lighting system -- rated at 10,000 hours of active scanning -- turns off when the scanner is resting. This means you can leave the scanner on 24 hours a day without sacrificing the longevity of those 10,000 hours.
The scanner is Mac- and Windows-compatible, and connects using USB and FireWire. IT-8 calibration targets are also included in the scanner package.
So what's the downside?
Well, you can get a cheaper scanner. But you can't get a better and more versatile scanner than the ScanMaker1000XL Pro. And you better believe it!
